Exporting Table Grapes from South Africa

What Makes South African Table Grapes Stand Out

South African table grapes stand out globally due to their exceptional eating quality, diverse range of popular seedless varieties, and a remarkably long marketing season. Cultivated across five distinct geographical regions, each with unique climatic advantages, South Africa can supply international markets from November to May, providing a crucial counter-seasonal offering to the Northern Hemisphere. Growers focus on producing grapes with superior sweetness, crisp texture, and attractive appearance, adapting their cultivar profile to meet evolving consumer preferences for seedless options. Backed by stringent quality control, advanced cold chain logistics, and a strong export-oriented industry, South African table grapes consistently deliver a premium product that arrives fresh and maintains its quality through long-haul shipments, securing its position as a preferred supplier to major markets like the EU and UK.

How We Pack and Label

At Africa Harvest Exporters, we pack fresh table grapes exclusively in 4.5 kg cartons, engineered for premium shelf-life and full compliance with EU and UK retail specifications. Each carton is fitted with a liner bag and carefully inserted SO₂ sheet, ensuring optimal moisture control and post-harvest preservation. Grapes are hand-selected, pre-cooled, and layered to maintain cluster integrity. Every box carries a compliant label featuring the cultivar name, PUC code, harvest week, and traceability barcode, aligned with phytosanitary and food safety standards.

  White Seedless Grapes:

White Seedless Grapes constitute a significant and highly valued segment of South Africa's table grape exports, prized for their refreshing sweetness, crisp texture, and inherent convenience as a seedless fruit. These varieties, which range in color from pale green to a translucent yellow when ripe, are crucial for providing a diverse offering to international markets, often complementing the more vibrant red and black options.

  Red Seedless Grapes:

Red Seedless Grapes represent the largest and most dynamic segment of South Africa's table grape exports, commanding significant attention in global markets due to their vibrant appeal and exceptional eating qualities. This category encompasses a range of cultivars, each contributing to a prolonged export season from early to late summer. Varied for their appealing red hues, from brilliant ruby to deep crimson, these grapes are universally sought after for their sweet, juicy flesh and satisfyingly crisp texture.
